Trunk Show

With Kelly DuMaresq

Kelly's speciality is using scraps, specifically strings. Strings are strips that are random widths and lengths. I review what makes scrappy quilts work, ways to approach scrap quilts, and easy ways of organizing your scraps and strings so that they actually get used.  I will have lots of examples of scrappy quilts I have made for inspiration.

Trunk Show

With Stasha Ceglarz

Hello, my name is Stasha Ceglarz.

I’m a fiber artist who lives in Ontario, Canada, where I create, teach, and adjudicate quilting, felting and other fiber arts.  I've won numerous international and national awards for my work. Heritage and creativity are important to me, as are beauty, color, and attention to detail in the development of my unique pieces.  I trace my artistic abilities to my grandmother, who was a talented artist and seamstress.  I often combine traditional fiber art patterns and techniques with original designs in my quilting and felting artistry.

I like to bring playfulness and wonder to my projects.  My garden and nature and the colors around us are my constant inspiration.

Machine Binding & Jelly Roll Rug

With Elaine Theriaux

What's it all about

More and more, binding a quilt by machine is becoming the norm. In this sample filled demo, your students will learn some amazing tips on how and when to apply the binding by sewing machine. There'll be a demo of the mechanics of applying a binding including the appropriate seam allowance to use which tends to be a mystery to everyone.

Various presser feet will be reviewed. Needles, thread types and colors, numerous decorative stitches on the sewing machine and the fabulous piercing power of the higher end machines will be explored.

In addition, the lecture covers bindings with piping, flanges, reversible, several styles using decorative stitches, as well as the traditional binding.

A handout with links to tutorials of all the topics covered is available for the students.
